Undoing Gendered Patterns Part 1: Improving our CI Technique
Dancing CI requires that we embody a range of qualities that cut across divisions of gender. Most of us were raised to embody some qualities, attitudes, postures, etc. more strongly than others. Gender, culture, race and class are just some of the factors that shape the ways we were taught to move. Even if our beliefs have changed over time, we are likely still carrying around some patterns that limit our CI dancing. Let’s find where our gendered movement patterns are holding us back in our CI technique and create strategies to fill in our own gaps.

Undoing Gender Patterns Part 2: Shifting Gendered Patterns of Interaction
When gendered patterns of interaction emerge in our CI dances, what can we do to shift the dynamics of the dance and open up new possibilities? In this lab session, we will identify common gendered patterns of interaction – such as “doer” and “done to” -- and devise strategies to shift the roles people are taking in the dance.
